What About Gotipua Dancer

Gotipua is a traditional dance form in the state of Orissa, India, and the precursor of Odissi classical dance.[1] It has been performed in Orissa for centuries by young boys, who dress as women to praise Jagannath and Krishna. The dance is executed by a group of boys who perform acrobatic figures inspired by the life of Radha and Krishna. The boys begin to learn the dance at an early age until adolescence, when their androgynous appearance changes. In the Oriya language Gotipua, means "single boy" (goti-pua).[2]Raghurajpur, Orissa (near Puri) is an historic village known for its Gotipua dance troupes.To transform into graceful feminine dancers the boys do not cut their hair, instead styling it in a knot and weaving garlands of flowers into it. Kalavati Devi, was initiated into the world of dance and music at a very tender age. Besides dancing, she has also undergone training in pung (Manipuri mridang) playing and Thang Ta (Manipuri martial art). नामदेव ढसाल:नहीं रहा भारतीय कविता का विद्रोही कवि

विगत 15 फरवरी को मराठी दलित साहित्य के पुरोधा और दलित पैंथर आंदोलन के संस्थापक सदस्य चर्चित कवि नामदेव ढसाल ने इस दुनिया को अलविदा कह दिया। वे लम्बे समय से बीमार थे, लेकिन निरन्तर सक्रिय भी थे।नामदेव ढसाल सिर्फ मराठी ही नहीं, बल्कि समूची भारतीय कविता के सबसे बड़े विद्रोही कवियों में से एक कहे जा सकते हैं और शायद विवादस्पद भी। उन्होंने अपनी धारदार भाषा, नग्न यथार्थवादी काव्य संवेदना और रेडिकल अम्बेडकरवादी राजनैतिक दर्शन के बल पर मराठी कविता के रूप व तेवर को पूरी तरह बदल डाला। दलित रचनाशीलता के इस विद्रोही तेवर ने अन्य भारतीय भाषाओं की कविता को भी गहरे तक प्रभावित किया। हिंदी में दलित साहित्य की उग्रता और परम्पराओं से विच्छेद के लिए नकार का पुरजोर स्वर मराठी दलित कविता से ही अर्जित की गयी है जिसके पीछे प्रत्यक्ष या परोक्ष रूप से नामदेव ढसाल की उपस्थिति रही है। नामदेव ढसाल का जन्म 15 फरवरी 1949 ई॰ को पुणे के एक गाँव पुर-कनेरसर में हुआ। उनका बचपन बम्बई के रेडलाइट एरिया गोलपीठा में बीता। गोलपीठा की गलियों में वे जिंदगी की नंगी सच्चाइयों को अपनी आँखों से देखा और उन्ही के बीच बड़े हुए। ...

उद्भ्रांत का काव्य हिंदी साहित्य में एक ऐसा आलोकवृत्त रहा है जिससे नज़रें मिलाने की कोशिश प्रायः आंखों को चौंधिया देती रही है। इस स्थिति में इस ओर से या तो आंखें मूंद ली गईं या ठीक से मिलाई नहीं गईं। नतीज़तन उद्भ्रांत के कवि के काव्य पर ग़लत फैसले, जल्दबाज़ी में दिए गए निष्कर्ष या उनके विपुल रचनात्मक संसार से बचने के लिए उन्हें हाशिए पर कर देने की मुख्यधारा में प्रभावी मठाधीशों की कुटिल कोशिशें एक ऐसा वातावरण बनाती आईं, जहाँ उद्भ्रांत पर वैसे बात नहीं हो सकी, जैसे कि उद्भ्रांत जैसे व्यक्तित्व के कृतित्व पर होनी चाहिए थी। इस वातावरण के लिए उत्तरदायी ग़ैर रचनात्मक तत्वों ने मिलकर, न केवल उद्भ्रांत के उचित मूल्यांकन को होने से रोके रखा, बल्कि एक ऐसा साहित्य समय भी निर्मित किया, जहाँ बहुत कम उम्र में, बहुत कम कविताएं लिखकर, बहुत सारे काव्येतर ऐफ़र्ट करके, बहुत सारे, बहुत ग़ैरज़रूरी कवियों ने, बहुत कुछ पा लिया! निकृष्टता का स्वीकार समाज व संस्कृति के लिए कितना घातक है, यह बहस अपनी जगह है, लेकिन इस पर कोई बहस ही नहीं हो सकती कि उत्कृष्टता की उपेक्षा (जो प्रायः पूर्वग्रहग्रसित, राज...

समीक्षा और शोध की त्रैमासिक पत्रिका 'समीक्षा'

बड़े भाई सत्यकाम जी के साथ-साथ सामयिक प्रकाशन के महेश भारद्वाज के प्रति आभार कि मुझे हर बार की तरह समीक्षा का अक्टूबर-दिसंबर, 2013 वाला अंक समय पर मिल गया । पुस्तक समीक्षा पर केंद्रित जितनी पत्र-पत्रिकाएं निकलती हैं उनमें बहुत पुरानी त्रैमासिक पत्रिका है 'समीक्षा' । पिछले 46 वर्षों से किसी पत्रिका का निरंतर प्रकाशित होना कोई हंसी-खेल नहीं । इससे गुज़रें तो जैसे समकालीन कविता, कहानी, उपन्यास, नाटक, आलोचना आदि विधाओं की कई जानी-पहचानी और कई अनजानी किताबों की सम्यक समीक्षाएं मिल जाती हैं । इस बार भी उसी तरह । इस अंक में युवा कथाकार उर्मिला शिऱीष का नया साक्षात्कार भी है । उन्हें जाना-परखा जा सकता है ....पर मेरा ध्यान जहाँ अधिक देर तक लगा रहा वह है कथाकार, पत्रकार और संपादक तीनों रूपों में सक्षम और समर्थ रचनाकार बलराम जी की 'माफ़ करना यार' जैसी आत्मीय-संस्मरण की किताब पर प्रमोद भार्गव की खुली और दिलेरी से की गई समीक्षा - लेखकीय गरिमा के विनम्र आत्मकथ्य । प्रमोद जी लिखते हैं - "बलराम को जहाँ गुजांइश दिखती है वामपंथ और छद्म धर्मनिरपेक्षता पर चोट करते हैं । ...
