Vidwan Nand Bhardwaj


Nand Bharadwaj is an eminent writer of Hindi & Rajasthani and a well-known media expert. Critics and the fans both have equally appreciated his contribution in literature as well as in media. Born in a small village in Barmer district of Rajsthan in 1948, he has completed his post-graduation in Hindi literature from Rajasthan University  in 1971. He has contributed a number of books such as : SAHITYA PARAMPARA AUR NAYA RACHNA KARMA (collection of literary essays), SAMVAD NIRANTER (collection of interviews with senior writers and cultural experts), and SANSKRITI JANSANCHAR AUR BAZAR (collection of articles on culture and media). He has written number of short stories and a novel ‘SAMHI KHULATO MARAG’ in Rajasthani. His translation of ‘The Outsider’ of famous novelist Albert Camus in Rajsthani was published in 1973. 
He himself is a well-known poet of Hindi and Rajasthani. ANDHAR PAKH, JHEEL PER HAVI RAAT and HARI DOOB KA SAPNA  are some of his own poetry collections. He has also been an editor of various daily, weekly and monthly Journals and publications. His major editorial works include RET PAR NANGE PANV (An anthology of senior Hindi poets of Rajasthan, published by Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi in 1989) and TEEN BEESI PAAR (An anthology of Rajasthani short stories) published by National Book Trust, India in 2007. As an honor for his literary contributions, he was awarded by Rajasthan Graduates National Service Association, Mumbai in 1975 for his poetry collection ANDHAR PAKH, “Narottamdas  Swami Gadya  Puruskar” for his book “DAUR AR DAYRO” in 1984. In 1995 he was awarded “Pt. Brij Mohan Joshi Gadya Puruskar”   for his exceptional service to Hindi and Rajasthani literature. 

He has also been awarded by DG Doordarshan for his outstanding contribution in the production of programme series on “INDIAN CLASSICS” during DD Annual Award 2003 at Mumbai. Planning, direction and anchoring of the programme series BHARTAYAN, based on 150 years of Indian freedom struggle, its main events and comprehensive development before and after the Independence with special reference to the Rajasthan state. This documentary series was produced by DDK, Jaipur during 2006-07 and has also been telecast on National Channels of DD during 2007-08. He has been awarded the most prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award-2004 on his Rajasthani novel ‘SAMHI KHULATO MARAG’. As media professional, he has been working with All India Radio and Doordarshan since 1975 as a professional and senior programme officer. Recently K.K. Birla Foundation has confered the ‘Bihari Award’ on his poetry collection ‘Hari Doob Ka Sapna’ for the year 2008, which is considered to be the prestigious award in literarature. He has been retired from the post of Senior Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Jaipur in August 2008. At present, he is active as a free-lance writer and media expert.
