The SPIC MACAY National Convention is conducted to bring the young volunteers from the entire country and abroad to a common platform, where they can exchange ideas, share experiences and provide a way forward for SPIC MACAY for realizing its objectives. Participants get to experience performances by great maestros and get an insight into the values and ethos of India’s culture. In an ashram like setting, the convention held each year during the summer vacation is designed to inspire the delegates to propagate the movement in the year ahead. The last few conventions have been held at IIM-Bangalore, IIT Kanpur, Ravenshaw University Cuttack and attended by about 1200-1500 delegates.
The SPIC MACAY Chapter at NITK (formerly KREC) Surathkal which started with humble beginnings 25 years ago has now blossomed into one of the best student chapters in the country. In view of celebrating this zenith, we have been given the opportunity to host the 27th National Convention at NITK, from 28th May to 3rd June 2012. The National Convention gathers over 1500 guests from across the country and abroad, consisting mainly of school and college students. It is a 7 day festival featuring music and dance performances, workshops, folk arts and crafts, yoga, heritage walks, talks, movie screenings and much more.
