This is a preliminary 'Call for Registration' for the 26th National
Convention of SPIC MACAY to be held in the historic campus of
capital city and now the twin city of the state capital Bhubaneswar .
The period of the convention is 23rd May to 29th May 2011. We hope
that this - the first ever National Convention being held in the state
of Odisha - known for its age old heritage of Art, culture, sculpture,
temple architecture, pattachitra painting and not to mention the
numerous folk and tribal arts will be one of the best ever. Ofcourse
the Odissi dance and music has made the state of Odisha known world
over based as it is on the historic Jagannath cult unique to this part
of the country.
Please visit the National Convention web site at ttp://www.natcon.spicmacay.info to register your interest online on the Registration Page. Kindly note that the web site is still under
construction and we will be adding information as we go. Also, refer
to the Natcon page on Facebook page for ongoing information about
curtain raisers and other activities. All participants intending to
attend the natcon are strongly encouraged to join the facebook page
set up for this purpose. The link is
note that the current schedule is indicative only and we are in the
process of confirming participating artistes by February15th at which
time you will find the up-to-date information on the web site. The
current list of artistes and events is attached. Also, attached is a
sample letter of invitation on convention letterhead for your
reference.
Once we receive the expression of your interest to attend the
convention, we will be sending you the registration form by email,
which will have to filled out and approved by the local and state
chapters before being sent out to us either by email or hard copy form
to obtain final confirmed registration. Unfortunately we will not be
in a position to permit any one to attend the convention with out
prior confirmed registration. We intend to close giving out all
confirmation of registration by April 15th - within 2 weeks of closing
online registration.
We do look forward to seeing you in Odisha at the 26th National
Convention and we will be working very hard to make it a memorable
experience for all of you.
Please do try not to bring your cell phones or cameras to get the best
possible experience of this Ashram like environment that we are trying
to create.
Kindly note………
• The invitation extends to all students, teachers and principals of
schools, colleges, universities.
• School students need to be accompanied by teacher. They should be
recommended by the Principal.
• All active volunteers, coordinators, donors, well wishers are
Invited to the convention.
• The names of the delegates should be forwarded to the chapter
coordinator, who will screen the list carefully. The convention should
not be
treated a picnic opportunity, but to be taken seriously as a great
learning experience. Delegates are expected to be involved in various
activities of their
choice. There will be workshops in mornings, film screenings in the
afternoons, and concerts in the evenings.
• All chapter coordinators will recommend the names to the State
Coordination. The list should have details of the student - name, age,
institution, class etc. The adult delegate too should provide
details/status about themselves. This will help in knowing the
delegate, as well as providing
the right accommodation in Kanpur.
• All delegates are expected to make their own arrangements for
arrival / departure at Cuttack. Information about the convention will
be given from time
to time. Pick up will be arranged for everyone at the Station. SPIC
MACAY will take care of all boarding / lodging in Cuttack.
THE LAST DATE FOR RECEIVING APPLICATION IS 1st APRIL 2011.
Since we want more participation from schools and colleges, kindly
spread the word around to all institutions in your neighbourhood,
government and
private. This invitation is also open to Government /Corporate
officials who wish to imbibe the SPIC MACAY experience.
