We will also release the brochure for SPICMACAY National Convention 2011.

Venue: University of Culture, near market building, Unit - 2.
at the Utkal University of Culture in Bhubaneswar. 
The core Convention team and other leading volunteers of SPIC MACAY will have an informal interactive session with the legendary guru as part of the program. Panditji's leading disciple Bidushi Saswati Sen will also grace the occasion. The members of press and media will also be able to learn about SPIC MACAY and the national convention on the occasion.

AN INTERACTION/MEET THE MEDIA WITH PANDIT BIRJU MAHARAJ AND
RELEASE OF SPIC MACAY NATIONAL CONVENTION 2011 BROCHURE

1. SPIC MACAY stands for the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And
Culture Amongst Youth. SPIC MACAY aims to preserve, promote and advance our glorious
legacy and conserve Indian classical music and culture by spreading awareness about it
amongst the youth of India as well as those abroad through performances by various Artists,
Conventions, Baithaks, Camps and Musical Fests in several educational institutions in India
and abroad.

2 Every year SPIC MACAY arranges a National Convention(NATCON) in any one of the
premiere educational institutions of India. This year, Ravenshaw University has earned the
privilege to host the National Convention 2011 (NATCON 2011). This event will span for a week,
starting on 23rd of May 2011 and will be preceded by various curtain raisers, wherein reputed
artists will perform in front of the youth various institutions. The entire sequence of events is
organized by the youth themselves, under guidance from mentors, as an empowering learning
process.

3. Brijmohan Nath Mishra popularly known as Pandit Birju Maharaj (Born on 04 Feb 1938),
is a world-acclaimed exponent of the Kathak dance form, and the torch bearer of the famous
Kalka-Bindadin Gharana of Lucknow. He will release the SPIC MACAY NATCON 2011 Brochure
in Bhubaneswar today and will interact with the Media and the youth volunteers of the
organising group .

4. We appeal to the esteemed Media organisations to kindly give these unique series of
events wide coverage to help us in our mission to propagate this noble movement, which will
be deeply appreciated by the youth and the society at large.
