Holistic Food by SPIC MACAY

Eating out of home will soon be a healthy practice in several academic institutions across the country through a joint initiative of a graduate of the Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And CultureAmongst Youth (Spic Macay). 

After experimenting with a successful model of catering organic food through his entrepreneurial venture called 'Joos' at his alma mater, IIM-A graduate of the 2008 batch Shiddharth Jaiswal has now begun working on replicating the successful model to create a nationwide chain with the support of Spic Macay. 

What will be adding momentum to the initiative is a recent agreement of Joos with Spic Macay where the later has assured to extend support to expand the operation. Jaiswal said, "The idea of Joos is to introduce healthy food to students on campuses. As Spic Macay also shares a similar thought, we have come together to take forward the initiative of providing holistic food to students across the country." National co-ordinator of Spic Macay Harsh Narayan said, "A presentation of the concept of Joos by Jaiswal during one of our recent national representative meetings impressed our executives who then agreed to support the initiative. Later, a committee was formed to look into how we can evolve the collaboration and span out the idea of holistic food all over the country by replicating the successful model of Joos. We also have holistic food centres in Delhi University and IIT Delhi." 

Talking about numbers, Jaiswal said that they would be able to set up Joos outlets in around 10 campuses at different places in the country next year. Jaiswal said, "The first outlet will be either in Delhi or Bihar. The first centre is likely to come up after six months." Idea of Joos is to introduce healthy food on campuses. Spic Macay has lent support to the initiative.
